MIL spec laptop customization services

Everybody seems have their own requirements and it’s the same thing for military programs using customized MILSPEC laptops. Each program has different requirements for mounting, interconnection, operating system support and power.

In general, when you buy a MIL-SPEC laptop from Getac or other suppliers, they have a range of standard configuration to choose from, but if what you need is not on the list, you’re out of luck.

That’s why Getac has partnered with The ProCustom Group (PCG) to provide customization services for their MILSPEC laptops.

Operating System Customization

Many military programs need operating systems that are no longer offered by the manufacturers or are different versions that are not offered. The upgrade, downgrade and special version process can be problematic for the end customer especially since the recovery provisions provided by the original manufacturer are no longer valid. PCG offers a number of services to allow customers to have the exact version of O/S that meets their requirement

  • Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade
  • Windows 7 Downgrade to Windows XP
  • System Delivery Without Operating System
  • Windows Recovery DVDs
  • Red Hat Linux Installations
  • Windows 8 Downgrade to Windows 7
  • Dual Boot Operating Systems-Windows XP & Windows 7

Power and Startup Customization

When installed in a vehicle, customers want their laptops to startup when the vehicle power is applied by the ignition or master switch. PCG offers a number of auto-start BIOS configurations matched to the deployed application.  This BIOS does not compromise the operation of Self Encrypting SSD’s (see below)

  • Auto Power On BIOS

SSD Customization

With security a key element of deployed systems, many customer want specific HDD/SDD combinations tailored to their application. PCG offers a number of alternative options and can transfer the original O/S and recovery partition to the new secure drive.

  • Self Encrypting Solid State Drive (SSD)
  • How to encrypt your hard drive

SIGINT/EMC Customization

Many of the current generation of rugged laptops offer many ways to communicate wirelessly. These functions while important for some applications cannot be tolerated in secure military environments. Therefore, PCG offers customizations to completely remove and disable all forms of internal wireless capability from the laptop.

  • Wireless Defeat – RF Quiet Configuration

Keyboard Customization

PCG offers customized keyboard layouts in single or multiple languages in fully protected and sealed molded rubber keyboards.  This allows users to address deployed environments in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Multi Language Keyboards – French, Arabic, Spanish, German
